Orts Metal Art is a concept created by myself with the help of a foreign artist. The main focus is to recylce and re-use all sort of metal which is thrown away or discarded and upcycle it into a work of art to be enjoyed for life. In fact we go around to collect and sometimes buy scrap metal and transform it into metal sculptures representing all kinds of jobs, sports, hobbies, animals, cars, aeroplanes and motorcyles, in order to reach as many people as possible with their tastes and preferences and be able to grab their attention. Most of the time people limit their definition of recycling to paper, plastic and glass, while the metal resource is discarded.This is also a limited resource on our planet. Besides, it has a very negative effect when it is disposed of in an uninformed and incorrect manner. In some cases it can also be dangerous. I try to give a second and long life to scrap metal by transforming it into beautiful sculptures for the enjoyment of many.
Catch them young they say. And education at a young age is key. In this regard my action of the EWWR campaign will be to deliver this message at a school by creating an awareness campaign involving teachers and students. It will be a week long build up which will engage all students and teachers at the school towards recognising the importance of reuse, recycle and upcycle of scrap metal, taking them through the whole process of gathering scrap metal and transfroming it into art. Making reuse of metal also means reducing the production of metal. The students and the teachers will be invited to create their own art during the campaign week as well as passing on the message to their parents and fellow students in different schools. At the same time this initiative will also broaden the students’ creativity, fantasy and imagination.
