The “Separar para mais Reciclar” project consists of door-to-door collection of waste paper, plastic and metal and glass in the four parishes of the municipality.

For this purpose, the municipality made available a set of small containers for citizens to separate waste at their homes. Door-to-door collection of paper, plastic and metal is carried out weekly and glass is collected each two weeks.

This project currently counts with the adhesion of more than 3700 houses and small businesses. This project has made it possible to collect, since April 2021, more than 573 tons of waste, of which 142 tons of paper and cardboard, 172 tons of plastic and metal and 258 tons of glass.
This project aims to reduce the amount of recyclable waste to be deposited in landfills and forward this waste for multimaterial recovery.
