Show Some Love and Donate! Staff initiative @BCC

Info

WHAT will be done

Description:

Working with Another World Belfast, the Environmental Education and Outreach Team will encourage staff to donate unwanted clothes from home at 3 different donation points in the city centre office buildings.
The clothes will go to the FreeStore project and will help vulnerable people to ‘shop’ for free and with dignity. Refugees, asylum seekers, or those fleeing domestic abuse may all access the FreeStore (the first of its kind in Northern Ireland) via their respective affiliated organisations. Colleagues in the council not only get a chance to responsibly dispose of unwanted garments, they will also learn about the great work that Another World Belfast do for the local community. The accompanying communications will also encourage staff to consider shopping second-hand and reduce their consumption of fast fashion in order to help tackle the climate crisis.
