We will organize three separate events within the scope of European Waste Reduction Week. Activities are explained respectively.

Advanced Recycling Artworks

We have implemented many projects so far that support environmental policies of Türkiye in order to leave a cleaner and livable world to future generations while protecting the natural resources of our country.

With the awareness that our natural resources are not endless, we are continuing our studies with determination on the way to ensuring that nature-friendly behaviors take a permanent place in our lives.

Within the scope of the “European Waste Reduction Week”, which aims to raise awareness about waste prevention in cooperation with our municipality and the Gökhan Avcıoğlu Foundation, we will bring together three advanced recycling artworks made from waste with our neighbors in our parks.

Therefore we will place three art works in Şişli in order to raise awareness of environmental sustainability to the masses on November 18, 2023. We hope that these events will be an important steps on the way to evolve from a ‘consuming society’ to a ‘producing society’.

Internal Communication

During the European Waste Reduction Week, we will give away glass bottles and thermos to 2700 Municipality Employees in order to raise awareness on November 20, 2023. By changing our habits, we choose to be involved in the movement to support sustainable resource and waste management by replacing disposable products.

In our municipality building we use nearly 10,000 cardboard cups and 7,000 plastic cups for water, tea and coffee per week. We aim to implement waste reduction quickly with the sustainable materials we will distribute.

 

Awareness Seminar

On Wednesday, November 22, 2023, as part of the Waste Reduction Week activities, the Director of the Climate Change and Policy Implementation and Research Center – Boğaziçi University Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Levent Kurnaz will give an awareness seminar titled ”The Harms of Excessive Consumption”. In addition to all our neighbors living in our district, associations, non-governmental organizations and professional organizations working in the field will also be invited to the seminar. After the seminar, a signed copy of Prof. Dr. Levent Kurnazlı’s book “The Last Glacier Melted” will be given as a gift to the participants.
