🇪🇺StartUp Europe Awards (SEUA) is an European Commission DG CONNECT methodology implemented by the Finnova Foundation that has traditionally had the institutional support of the European Parliament, the European Committee of the Regions and the European Economic and Social Committee since 2016. Accelerathon is an innovative acceleration programme promoted by the Finnova Foundation. This methodology aims to find solutions and funding, through an applied open innovation online system that brings together the innovative ecosystem in the environmental sector, in which the European Commission works in the framework of the LIFE programme (the EU’s funding instrument for the environment and climate action).

Smart Waste StartUp Europe Accelerathon presents a prize methodology for startups at local, regional, national and European level that fosters the open innovation and the collaboration between the different actors of the European ecosystem, through the private-public partnership to support entrepreneurs.

On this webinar will be launched the competition of these European Awards and its challenges, following the guidelines of the 2030 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and waste reduction actions of the EWWR:

➡Urban Waste the United Nations states that 68% of the world’s population will live in urban areas by 2050. Currently, with 55% of the world’s population present in these areas, solid waste disposal sites in and around cities are contributing to high levels of air pollution, which is having a negative effect on the health of millions of people around the world. The growth of the world population and the increase in consumption are also leading to a rethinking of waste management strategies in urban areas. Then, the aim is to encourage the development of projects that allow the sustainable use of this urban waste.

➡Innofood (innovation and research in the food and agri-food sector) with the help of the Valencian Institute of Business Competitiveness (IVACE). The challenge follows the strategy of the European Green Deal “From farm to Fork” aiming to make food systems fair, healthy and environmentally-friendly. It is opened to all disruptive projects with the mission of accelerating our transition to a sustainable food system.

The awarded entrepreneurs during the awards ceremony in 2021 will receive a StartUp Europe acceleration ticket of acceleration worth of 10,000 euros. The following services will be offered to the winners of the acceleration ticket:

• Mentoring
• European B2B Marketplace
• Networking / lobbying
• European funding for internationalisation

Some of the benefits will be:

• Advice in the elaboration of proposals to obtain European funds that will allow to turn the entrepreneur’s innovation into a recognized and/or financed European project.
