WHAT will be done

Description:

Thematic Focus: Hazardous Waste Prevention

When we are thirsty, usually we go and buy a drink, and we choose the product based on packaging appearance, taste, price, expiry date and/or brand. We hardly consider the environmental impact, although recently the trend is to avoid plastic packaging. It is true that plastic harms our environment but we need to dig much more deeper than that. We need to start looking at the ingredients!

We worked out on a formula that shows the consumer how to check and search about the hazardous waste generated by the ingredients being used in our products.

During this week we will present this formula. It will help the consumer to choose a product which will generate less hazardous waste while it is being produced, when compared to other products.

In our case we selected a fruit juice. The process to understand how hazardous waste is generated while producing a fruit juice is very complicated but we will try to simplify it as much as possible for the consumer.

Preparation started on 5th October 2018 and discussed within the Venture Unit.

21-Nov-2018 – This formula will be shared with the Cubs section for about 1 hr.

24-Nov-2018 – TEA TOMBLA from 15.30pm – 18.00pm will be organised at our HQ – you can come and join us where we will make around 30 mins explaining and sharing our formula to the people present. This presentation will be on facebook live as well on our facebook page.

An article will be written to explain our action and will be promoted on the Scoutkeeper news which will reach around 8000 Scout members in Malta.
