Stop Drowning in Junk Mail
• WHAT will be done
Our plan for this year’s EWWR action is to ask the school students to collect the junk mail (mainly commercial ads) received at home and bring it to school. This waste will be left in class for a week, without it being thrown away, so the students get to understand, visually, what it means to have a full landfill and of its negative impact.
Then the waste collected is to be weighed, and then we estimate how many trees were cut to produce these ads – this is to be linked to research that our students have done during the last scholastic year.
The waste will be then sorted out and recycled accordingly.
