Sustainable fashion fair
• WHAT will be done
Description:
We are promoting sustainable fashion by creating a pop-up thift shop – the largest of its kind in Malta, in one of the InterContinental Malta’s largest halls – whereby shoppers can buy second hand clothing at very minimal cost.
All proceeds of these 2 events go to 3 NGOs, Inspire, Zibel and MSPCA – like that we’re helping the environment by eliminating used clothing from ending up in land fill and raising money to help the environment and the community. Our action also involved collecting clothing from our employees and patrons – for our first event we collected 300 kilos of clothes from Eden Leisure employees only. We will also be complementing our action with an awareness building campaign which will take place through various above-the-line media and extensive social platforms explaining to the public the harm that fast-fashion can cause and the importance of reuse and recycling.
We promoted our first event extensively and had queues of shoppers waiting outside from almost an hour before opening. We raised almost €5000 and saved at least 2 truckloads of pre-loved clothes from being discarded, and giving them a new lease of life with new owners.
