Target Zero Waste
• WHAT will be done
Description:
1-) Zero Waste Information Meetings (Sites, workplaces, hospitals, and NGOs)
Between November 18th and 26th, within our district, sites, workplaces, hospitals, and Non-Governmental Organizations will be informed about waste management processes, starting from waste prevention due to European Waste Reduction Week. This includes waste reduction, separate collection at the source, separate collection, temporary storage, recycling, and waste management process
2-) Head of Neighbourhoods (Mukhtar) Workshop
A workshop will be held where head of neighborhoods will be involved in the process of how to collect and separate packaging waste more efficiently in our neighborhoods and how to improve the Zero Waste Program.
3-) Fish Sculpture Exhibition
A sculpture of Striped Sea Bream(Mırmır) Fish, measuring 1.8 meters in height and 3.5 meters in width, made from 3,770 PET bottles on a steel structure, is displayed to visitors at the Municipal Extra Service Building, illuminated with solar energy. Additionally, these plastics represent the daily water consumption of a family of four.
4-) Painting Competition
An award-winning Zero Waste Painting Competition will be organized for the students of our district’s preschool and primary school. Prizes will be awarded to the winners among the students. The competition will begin on November 20th and end on December 29th..
5-) Cash of Waste (Don’t Throw to Earn)
The “Cash of Waste” project will be launched during the European Waste Reduction Week to bring together consumers who generate recyclable waste in homes and businesses with licensed collectors who collect this waste through an incentive system. This initiative aims to maximize the recycling rates in our district within the framework of our Zero Waste Target project. A transparent project will be established, enabling citizens to view waste bins in the field through a mobile application specially created according to the municipality’s system. They will earn points for the waste they deliver, which they can spend.
6-) Collection Equipment for New Structures
As per the municipal council decision, during the process of obtaining an occupancy permit (Building Usage Permit) for new structures (apartment blocks, complexes, individual houses, or commercial buildings), a 3-compartment collection system (household-waste packaging-biodegradable waste) is established through discussions with the building owners or contractors.
