“Têxteis Circulares & Sustentáveis. O lixo está fora de moda!” Vem descobrir como dar uma vida nova aos resíduos!
• WHAT will be done
Description:
Coimbra City Council in partnership with the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra will hold, from 21 to 24 November, an event aimed at the general population, but with the main focus on children and young people on all topics associated with the European Week for Waste Reduction. In this event, there will be activities that focus on raising awareness for the reduction of textile waste, namely a workshop on clothes that are no longer used and gain a new life through their transformation (upcycling), promoting the reduction of excessive consumption of fast fashion. There will also be an activity to encourage the population to use reusable bags, through a workshop with the transformation of used fabrics into cloth bags for bread. There will also be a stand for the exchange of second-hand items (clothes). Other workshops will also be held, among which we highlight a workshop that will teach the general population, including children and young people, how to make compost in a simple way, as well as a workshop on vegetable fibers that are used in clothing. The dynamization of educational games will be another of the actions aimed at promoting and encouraging the extension of the useful life of clothing, electrical and electronic equipment or other items. Finally, a fashion show will be held with clothes from a Portuguese brand (slow fashion) and other pieces that were modified from clothes that were no longer used.
