WHAT will be done

Description:

The students will work together to create a podcast about their learning journey with regards to paper waste reducation.

Before focusing on the podcast, the students are learning about the importance of sustainability during PSCD lessons. Moreover, they are also doing research about paper waste problems as well as the process of paper production around the world during STEAM lessons. Since a site visit to the Wasteserv plant wasn’t possible, a Wasteserv representative (Ms Maria Farrugia) will visit our school and will give an overview about the importance of waste reduction at source.

During Music lessons, the students are working on the intro jingle and sound effects to be used in the podcast. During Drama, the students are writing the script to be used in the episodes. The various episodes will showcase the following:
– episodes 1 & 2: The life of paper (A story written by the students to explain where paper comes from and the whole process of creating a paper both from natural resources and also from recycled paper)
– episode 3: Discussing the importance of recycling paper
– episode 4: Resume about the whole recycling process
– episode 5: Interview a professional about the uses of recycled paper (Kotba Calleja)
– episode 6: Closure

After the last episode, the scope of the podcast is to generate online discussion on the ecopodcast.eu platform and collaborate with other participating schools in furthering the discussion. This offers a golden opportunity for the students to further enhance their 21st century skills.
