Creating a reusable produce bag to eliminate single-use plastic bags from stores.

Info

WHAT will be done

Description:

During the European Week for Waste Reduction we will mainly be using social media to continue creating awareness on the negative impact single-use plastic bags are having on our environment.

We will be promoting the benefits of reusable products by setting up a stand and speaking to people about the harms of single-use plastic at a local organic farm.

We are currently working on a video production which will include various statistics on plastic pollution around the world. This will be shared during EWWR on our Facebook page. We will also be publishing daily blog posts on our website that week providing our readers with a new way they can reduce the use of single-use plastic in their daily lives, reduce their waste in general as well as tips for reusing/recycling objects at home and more.

We plan on using all our online resources to promote the various ways in which everyone can work to make a difference.

Our idea came about as the concern for single-use plastic waste became worryingly increased. There was and is a need for change in the way we produce, use and dispose of plastic. This is why we designed and created a product which will help reduce single-use plastic bags substantially and provide shoppers with a convenient and reusable alternative when buying their produce.

Info on veggiebags:

Our veggiebags are made from 100% recycled plastic (RPET). The bags are reusable and can be used in more ways than one. Besides being an alternative to the single-use plastic bags freely available at most supermarkets, one can also rinse the produce in the bag itself. Fruit and vegetables can then be stored in the bags for an extended life span being that plastic bags usually cause ‘sweating’. Besides using the veggiebags for produce, one can even shop with them when bulk-buying nuts, seeds and pasta as well as bread.
