We will share an ebook and a survey on social media and in-person at Sapienza University of Rome, explaining the tobacco use and waste environmental impact and asking participants to respond to our survey to test their knowledge on this topic.

CONTEXT AND EXPLANATION OF THE PROJECT:
The World No Tobacco Day (WNTD) took place on May 31, 2022. The World Health Organization (WHO)’s 2022  topic is “Tobacco as a threat to the environment”: the focus are the effects of the entire production chain, including post-consumer waste, on the environment and thus on climate change.

All this considered, we created an ebook about the tobacco impact on the environment targeted at young people to raise awareness on this unpopular topic of social interest. This ebook is part of a youth awareness campaign on tobacco threat to the environment, that  is the first of its kind to our knowledge.
Through the ebook format we have tried to entice young people to inform themselves about a subject that is still little known but has a strong impact on everyone’s life, especially in a world that day by day is acquiring more awareness on the risks of climate change.
We also decided to create a questionnaire that would investigate the knowledge of young people on the subject, to develop future campaigns that are more specifically targeted at youth, to finally reduce tobacco smoke and its impact on the environment.
