ARAM would like to follow up on last year’s submission “Waste of Medicines. What are the solutions and how should we dispose of expired medicines?
And the initiative that Wasteserve took for the collection of (unused) medicines.

The general idea/action is to follow up on this initiative for the collection of old/expired medicines by the individual pharmacies that are taking part. ARAM would like to seek direct feedback from the pharmacies themselves and also to find out the general approach of the individuals who are making use of this facility.

ARAM’s project of last year was based on educating its members on the proper disposal of old and expired medicines and a lecture was held where Dr Lorna West explained the importance of such initiative. ARAM’s recommendations were specifically for the setting up of such depots within the pharmacies network.

This year ARAM will prepare a short questionnaire and distribute to each pharmacy and collected during the 3rd and 4th week of November 2019. Analysis of the feedback will be carried out and a short report produced and presented.
