Info

WHAT will be done

Description:

In this project, the items that lost their functionality, started to be seen as redundancy, and were seen as waste were brought to life by making them useful thanks to creativity. The main idea in recycling is to ensure that the wastes are reused as raw materials. In this project (up-cycle), a new functionality and visuality has been gained by making changes on the material (waste) in its current state. It aims to encourage the reuse of the material defined as waste. In this way, the amount of waste going to landfills will also be reduced. The production of new materials requires the use of significant natural resources, including water and energy. With the upcycling of existing materials, the service life is extended. In this way, the need to purchase is delayed or eliminated. Thus, natural resources are also preserved.

Stages of Activity

The rough wastes found in the warehouses of our municipality and originating from the houses were repaired, modified and made ready for reuse by the carpenters and handicraft trainers working in our municipality. The stages of the project are as follows;

  1. Determination of wastes to be used as raw materials
  2. Transfer of waste and collection in a specific center
  3. Distribution of waste to units that will carry out upcycling activities
  4. Turning the wastes into reusable products by the units
  5. Exhibition of ready-to-use products
  6. Raising awareness of citizens by reaching a wide audience
