Various handmade items using upcycling
• WHAT will be done
Description:
Designing and making various handmade items by papiermache’, including papiermache’ paintings, frames, pots, jewel boxes and containers. Making candlestick holders made up recycled plastic teaspoons used at the Centre. The active involvement in all stages of the project of the persons with disability – from the recycling early stage to the finished product – is at the very heart of this project.
Our service users bring newspapers from home, shred them, soak them in water, drain the water and mix them with chalk and glue to form a paste. The paste is then spread over wood – such as stars in the case of the Christmas tree – and several designs applied to the paste while it is still fresh.
