WASTES COME TO LIFE AGAIN
• WHAT will be done
Description:
A considerable amount of waste is generated during product processing in fruit processing industry. Some of these wastes are used as animal feed, while some of them are thrown into nature. These wastes with high biological value harm both nature and living things. In order to reduce this damage, it is aimed to transform fruit waste (pulp) into value-added products within the scope of this project. In this context, firstly, fruit wastes (orange, apple, cherry, carrot pulp) will be dried using freeze dryer and drying oven, and dried pulps will be ground into flour. Obtained flour will be mixed with wheat flour in different proportions and will be used in production of bakery products such as cakes and cookies. The event is planned to be held on 25.11.2020 with participation of academic staff of Pazarlar Vocational School, Kutahya Dumlupinar University. One week before the event, pulps will be collected from fruit processing facilities and the drying process will be carried out. Sensory, physical and textural properties of final product to be obtained will be the basis of a scientific research planned to be conducted in the future.
