Zero Food Waste Cyprus is a grassroot, bicommunal initiative, working on the reduction of food waste in farmers markets and the provision of this food to people in need, if deemed edible, or composting if deemed inedible. More particularly, every Saturday in Nicosia and every Wednesday in Kyrenia, volunteers are visiting the local markets and collect food that would have otherwise been wasted. This food is then sorted and distributed to vulnerable groups of people contributing in this way to a circular economy. At the same time we are aiming in informing and raising awareness about the issue of food waste and how it can be tackled.
