ZERO HERO aims to the prevention of waste creation, as well as to the strengthening of an ecosystem which brings together organizations and individuals who share a common vision:

Our activation, called  “ZERO HERO: The circle of lost plastics”, inspires and encourages people of all ages to gather quantities of plastic bottles and deposit them into an impressive container which is designed to look like an impressive big fish (4 m. length x 2 m height), so that they prevent them from ending up into the sea and, consequently, in the food chain . The fish container brings a strong symbolism of why we need to keep our seas blue.

The quantities of bottles collected during the project are forwarded (through an organized and fully documented process) to recycling.  Our valuable partner and ally in this process is Keep Sea Blue, an independent, international non-profit organization, whose strategic target is fighting plastic-related pollution in coastal areas of the Mediterranean region and promoting them into the circular economy.

Keep Sea Blue has developed a ground-breaking solution, based on Βlockchain by Oracle technology, which ensures full traceability and transparency throughout the recycling journey of plastic and its re-integration in the production process (Recovered Seaside Plastic™). As a result, the recycling efforts of each one of us can be traced and guaranteed that they have a positive impact on the environment

THE CONCEPT:

• Between 20-28^th of November, the two (2) impressive ZERO HERO fishes will be placed on two pre-chosen points of interest introduced by the Hellenic Recycling Agency.
• Citizens, students of all ages, teachers will be invited to participate to collecting an recycling of plastic bottles. At the same time special educated promoters will inform visitors on the topic of sea pollution from plastics.
• They will also be encouraged to bring their plastic and other recyclable bottles and cans to the spot, so that they “feed” the only fish that should be fed with these items, our impressive container!
• Fishes will be decorated/surrounded by branded beach flags, to enhance the enthusiasm of the participants.
• The activation will be covered by video and photo shut by professionals and the edited material will be given to Hellenic Recycling Agency for further use either internal or external (e.g. social media).
• Keep Sea Blue will separate, weight, register in the Blockchain, and recycle the materials collected and provide official feedback report to Hellenic Recycling Agency.
• KORPI is commited to give a second life in collected plastic bottles by receiving the collected plastics and recycle it in order to produce new recycled plastic water containers.
