Zero leftovers in South-Karelia, Finland

Zero leftovers in South-Karelia –campaign challenges primary school students to reduce the amount of food leftovers. Schools receive campaign materials instructing students how to reduce amount of leftover food and why this is important.

Materials include a measurement form for statistic purposes. Schools cooking staff fills the form during the week. Form includes “What was for lunch at the school today?” “Amount of organic waste” and “The number of eaters”. After a week the forms are returned and results analyzed. One selected school participating in the campaign is awarded with ice cream for their efforts.
