As Gökçeada Municipality, we organize certain activities during the European Waste Reduction Week, which is celebrated with various events aimed at drawing attention to and raising awareness of waste reduction, reuse and recycling (Reduce -Reuse – Recycle).
Groups will be established during our “Hand in Hand for Zero Waste” call on the week commencing 20 November on social media. These groups include pre-school, primary and secondary school, high school, and university students.
On Thursday, November 25, 2021, at 16.30 – 17.30 (UTC+3), a garbage collection event will be held with mixed groups of children and youth in our green area “Open Space Gökçeada”, which was created by designing in the place with participation.
On Saturday, November 27, 2021, between 14.00 – 16.00 (UTC+3), a mixed group of teenagers and children will be given a short talk explaining garbage sorting, which will then be followed by them separating the garbage they will collect from the local area. Throughout the week we will be sharing posts on social media platforms, such as Instagram and Facebook, containing content regarding zero-waste and garbage sorting.
On Sunday, November 28, 2021, “Waste Workshop” groups consisting of pre-school, primary and secondary school, high school and university students will carry out recycling projects. At the end of the workshops, an exhibition will be held and the outputs will be shared.
