The action aims to clean the sea surface, beaches and shoreline at the Sea of Marmara and Bosphorus. Marine litter is a global concern, affecting all the oceans of the World.

SEA SURFACE CLEANING ACTION: We have 10 Sea Surface Cleaning Boats which were produced in Turkey with Special designed conveyor system.  During the week, they will collect every kind of wastes on sea surface and store them on the boat. Boats will transfer those stored wastes to waste recycling plant with solid waste barges . The target amount of marine litter to be collected at sea surface is 200 m3.

BEACH AND SHORELINE CLEANING ACTION: Cleaning polluted beach and shoreline requires specific techniques and methods according to the characteristics of the site. With the shoreline cleanup or beach cleaning operations, we are going to use Manuel Cleanup + Mechanical equipment and Mechanical Machines. Within 515 km of coastline in Istanbul will be cleaned by coast and beach cleaning Squads (Total 186 persons. Beach cleaning machines wil work by collecting sand by way of a drag mechanism and then  sifting anything large enough to be considered the foreign matter, including sticks, stones, rubbish, syringes, and other items. The target waste to be collected at beaches and shorline is 800 m3.

During the European Week for Waste Reduction campaign we will try to collect 1.000 cubicmeter recycable wastes and transfer to recycling plant.
