THE WASTE CALCULATOR by AUCHAN and DARiACORDAR is an innovative and unique tool in Portugal created with all consumers and families in mind to manage their purchases sustainably.

Aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the urgency of the climate transition, and sharing the beyond zero waste vision, Auchan, in association with DARiACORDAR, developed the WASTE CALCULATOR, available at https://app .contraodesperdicio.pt.

THE WASTE CALCULATOR is an online tool available to all consumers in Portugal, free, intuitive, and easy to use. It allows us to know the quantities, and environmental and financial impacts of the food we are wasting and helps us to make better decisions.

THE WASTE CALCULATOR is a collaborative digital platform based on 4 main pillars:

– Register, giving the consumer an active role in changing and adopting new behaviors, as they are the major data provider;
– Reduce, through information, knowledge, and analysis of the main foods that are wasted.
– Savings, with reduced spending on purchasing goods that are wasted.
– Empowerment, by helping consumers to protect the environment.

THE WASTE CALCULATOR was presented in Portugal at the celebration of the 1st National Environment Day, in which Portugal became the 1st country in the world with a national day dedicated to this cause.
