WEEE Roadshows
• WHAT will be done
Description:
Two WEEE Roadshows (Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment) Roadshows are taking place in Letham (on the outskirts of Perth) and Auchterarder, Aberuthven and Blackford.
The Campaigns are running from Monday 19th October until Friday 18th December 2015.
They aim to encourage householders to recycle their small-electricals (kettles, hair straighteners, cables, chargers, etc) via permanent pink Small-Electricals Recycling Banks that are sited at Recycling Points in Letham and Auchterarder. These Recycling Banks are an alternative to driving to the Recycling Centre because they are sited within walking distance of homes and businesses in each village.
The Roadshow consists of lamp-post banners, bus shelter advertising, posters, flyers and manned and un-manned stalls at local shops, businesses and community venues. Promotion for the campaign is via Press Releases, socail media and visits to local schools with WEEE Mascot, Kelly the Kettle.
The first Perth and Kinross WEEE Roadshow took place in summer 2015 in Scone, on the outskirts of Perth. It resulted in the collection tonnage more than doubling at the Scone Small-Electricals Recycling Bank.
